frank had attempted to do his potions and, as usual, he had given up with it. he needed alice to help him, really. she was the only person who he knew that could be bothered to do potions. oh, and the only person who was actually talking to him. ever since the stupid golden snitch blast, he'd been ignored by most of the guys. a lot of the girls had jumped forward to help him out. frank had only said something without thinking. nothing would come of it. at least, he didn't think it would. frank sighed at the ceiling. he still had his potions things out as he was too lazy to put them away.
frank pushed himself off his bed and then walked to the window, sitting on the seat and smiling at shibby. he ran his hand down the owl's sleek, brown feathers and then bit his lip, looking out of the window. he was contemplating sending alice a note. he looked back at shibby and then raised his eyebrows. "what do you think, lad?" he asked quietly. "shall we send her a note?" he smiled. shibby just stared at him with big eyes. he chuckled lightly, looking back out of the window.

running her fingers through her hair, alice frowned at the empty corridor, more annoyed that this was her last shift of the week than the lack of disobedient students. remus seemed to think that she worked too hard, & that she didn't leave nearly enough time for herself to eat, or sleep, or even to spend time with her friends, when really, alice had more than enough time to do that. she had long ago perfected the art of dashing into the great hall every morning & grabbing a handful of toast to eat on the way to her first lesson, & all alice ever drank was tea. unable to find anything that would keep her on duty, alice sighed, & made her way back to the gryffindor common room, knowing that there was some homework somewhere that she had to complete. or had she finished it all last night? maybe peter was there, she could help him. merlin knew that without her help he'd be failing every NEWT he was taking. or even .. frank!
grinning to herself, alice walked faster, making her way down the corridors & through secret passageways until she found herself in front of the fat lady. speaking the password ( in noctem ) alice pulled her way through, clambering through the portrait hole as best she could ( she'd never seemed to master the skill of climing through gracefully, like lily or marlene ). a quick glance around the common room told her that frank wasn't around, but a first year politely told her that he was in the dorm, & had muttered something about potions. alice smiled her thanks, & quickly ran up the spiral staircase, making her way towards the seventh year dorms & walking in quietly. "hello?" she looked around furtively; she'd never been comfortable with going into other people's dorms - it felt like breaking into someone's house, to her.

maybe he'd have to go and find alice, drag her back to the dorms and demand her to help him with potions. if anyone was going to get him motivated, it was her. he turned to look at the things cluttered around. the others wouldn't be too pleased about it, really. he shrugged to himself, biting his lip and then closing his eyes. frank wondered where she'd be. with remus? he couldn't help but feel slightly jealous at the amount of time remus and alice spent together. although he didn't believe a word of the golden snitch blast, he couldn't help wondering that maybe she liked remus more than she liked him. the thought would always be there. maybe that was why she didn't want him. physically. frank shook his head. shut up. he blinked. maybe she was with peter? helping him even more. or james. or lily. or just someone who was occupying her. he wanted to occupy her. frank opened his eyes, hearing foot steps.
the quiet hello was enough to make him grin widely. shibby was half asleep and the sudden noise made him ruffle his feathers. frank smoothed them down, sliding off the window seat. he rubbed the back of his neck as he moved towards the sound of alice's voice. he stopped when he saw her, raising his eyebrows. "if you're looking for frank, i don't think he's around. sorry." he shrugged and then fake frowned, his face serious for a few seconds. he suddenly laughed, shaking his head and moving closer to her. he put his arms around her, hugging her gently but tightly. "helloooo." he said cheerfully. she was here. all his earlier mind accusations were cleared.

she jumped ever so slightly at an owl moving, but relaxed instantly the moment she spotted frank next to him. alice wasn't a big fan of birds; she used the hogwarts owls only in emergencies & very reluctantly. if dinah could deliver messages to her parents, alice would be more than willing to use her, but, as dinah was only three years old, & a cat, & not a very bright one at that, something told alice that her letter & her cat would get lost in the british countryside. she grinned at him, trying to push away the comments from the golden snitch's article; she knew there was no way in the name of merlin's beard that frank would ever cheat on her, & she knew for a fact that she wasn't .. 'batting for the other team', as it were. the only person alice had eyes for was frank, & vice versa, despite what james & sirius said about her relationship with remus. she & remus were just friends, best friends, & had been for years. alice saw remus as her brother, her big, overprotective brother who wasn't too keen on her boyfriend, but weren't all brothers like that? she knew owen & ashley weren't too keen on frank, but that was just because they didn't know him as well as alice did.
"if you're looking for frank, i don't think he's around. sorry."
alice grinned at him, & bit her lower lip gently, blinking as he moved towards her & instantly wrapping her arms around him as he reached her, pushing herself up onto her tiptoes & pulling herself as close to him as she possibly could. "hello," she grinned into his chest, inhaling that ever present scent of lemons & pine that always lingered around frank, or maybe she imagined it, she didn't know. looking up at him, alice struggled to hold back a giggle, pressing her lips together tightly. "did you miss me?"

frank had missed her. he'd missed her too much. as always. her scent, her eyes, her smile. her giggle and her voice. he just missed everything about her. and yeah, he wanted to share everything with her. and he meant everything. they hadn't actually slept together and yeah, he wanted that with alice. and only alice. he had to admit, he did pressure her sometimes but that was only because he wanted to show her that they were meant to be. that he would be there for her and all she had to do was trust him with her body and then things would be perfect. the gossip would stop and they could just be as happy as a cat in a milk truck. wow, he never thought he'd be saying that. but it was true. if it was just them, things would go away.
he nodded at her question, grinning down at her. "of course i missed you. how could i not?" he chuckled and then kissed her forehead softly. that was all they ever did. kiss. he was kind of okay with that but as before, he wanted more with her. just her. to share things with her. he smiled, his arms still around her. "and now you're here, you can come help me with potions now." he nodded at her, chuckling lightly and then squeezing her gently one more time before moving his arms from around her to give her some space. as much as he didn't want to move away, he knew she liked her personal space.

she knew the fact that she hadn't had .. sex .. with frank yet was frustrating, for him, at least. she knew he loved her & that she loved him - she loved him so much she felt that her heart would burst! but sex .. was the one thing alice hadn't been able to do, the one thing she was nowhere near ready for. she knew the theory of it ( thanks to marlene's & lily's more graphic conversations, & whenever sirius became involved, the conversations turned particularly x-rated ) & she knew it was supposed to feel .. amazing, but alice .. just couldn't bring herself to do it. she just couldn't. after bringing frank home for the easter holidays in her sixth year, her mother had taken her aside & given her the 'birds & the bees' talk, & all alice had managed to do was sit there & blush throughout the whole conversation. she didn't want to just .. have sex with frank because he wanted it; she wanted it too, she did. she just .. couldn't bring herself to admit it out loud.
alice's grin widened, if possible as frank kissed her forehead, & she tried not to feel guilty that in ten months, all she'd allowed him to do was kiss. remus kept telling her that she shouldn't feel guilty, & that she shouldn't give in just to please frank. it wasn't that easy though; alice didn't like disappointing people, & every time she said no & frank looked frustrated or annoyed or upset, alice wanted to take it back & say yes, just so that he'd be happy again. "i- sure, okay," alice grinned, trying to shake off her train of thought, unwinding her arms but threading her fingers through frank's, wanting to keep in contact with him. she scanned the dorm & spotted his potions equipment on his bed, & moved towards it, gently tugging his fingers to make sure he followed her. clambering onto his bed, alice sat down, curling her legs underneath her & pulled her jumper over her head, blinking at the stuff in front of her. "what are you struggling with?" alice asked, dropping her jumper to the floor & picking up the parchment in front of her.

he smiled when she laced her fingers with his, squeezing her hand gently and then following her over to the bed. he watched her sit down and looked at the potions equipment on his bed. he rubbed the back of his neck lightly and then looked down at her, shrugging as she picked up the parchment. he chuckled slightly and then joined her on the floor, sighing deeply and then shrugging once more. "more like what am i not struggling with." he told her, biting his lip. he looked at the floor before lifting his head back to look at her face. he wanted to finish his potions but she was just so distracting.
"i tried earlier but then i got bored." he admitted, sighing. he knew that out of everyone, she was the only one who could even bring him to think about doing his homework. he groaned lightly, moving so he could lean against the bed instead. "see, i don't even know where to startttt." he whined and then raised his eyebrows. "what about you, alice?" he said, nodding slowly. she did her potions. where did she start with it? probably from left, right and center. "how do you start yours?" he smiled widely at her.

alice's tie quickly followed her jumper, already completely absorbed in the essay in front of her, circling grammar mistakes with a spare quill she'd picked up from his bed. muttering something about 'i before e, except after c, frank,' alice tucked her long hair behind her ear, chewing at her bottom lip thoughtfully. "it's really not that hard," she murmured distractedly, crossing her legs underneath her. she was barely aware of frank looking up & back away from her again & again; alice was lost in the essay, focusing upon schoolwork. she'd always been good at school- & homework; the sorting hat had almost put her in ravenclaw because of her overpowering need to know everything about everything around her, but, apparently, the hat had seen something in her that screamed more gryffindor than ravenclaw, though alice had yet to see it.
alice couldn't help but grin as frank admitted he'd become bored; alice knew he had - he always did. sometimes, she felt like the only gryffindor who enjoyed working. alice liked having homework & doing well in class because she liked having things to do, & things to learn. since fifth year, professor mcgonagall had submitted four of her transfiguration essays to transfiguration weekly, & professor flitwick had submitted three ( though only two had been published ) so she was clearly doing something right. "well," alice started, scratching at her arm lightly, placing the quill on top of the parchment & leaning back on the bed, propped up by the pillows. "usually, i start by describing the thing the essay's asking me about. for example, if i've been asked to answer .. oh, i don't know, 'explain the advantages & disadvantages of wolfbane potion in modern society', i'd explain what the wolfsbane potion did, first. i don't know, it's all down to personal preference. lily likes to answer the question, marlene does whatever she can to get out of answering the question, peter likes to take his time & breaks the question down into smaller chunks. it's up to you how you start it."

frank watched her remove her tie, frowning. he knew that she clearly didn't see how teasing that was. or maybe she did and was purposely doing it just so she could reject him sexually. again. he shook it from his mind. that was the last thing he'd think about right now. potions now, sex later. no. not sex later. shake it from your mind, frank. he frowned at himself, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. he heard alice's light mumbling and it made him smile. she was always telling him the way to spell things and the grammatically correct ways to write things. frank didn't like writing and therefore he didn't put much effort into it. the main thing frank wanted to do was hand something in and be done with it. this was why he'd end up failing his entire time at hogwarts. though, at least he'd still have alice to help him. right? he shook the thought from his mind again, clearing his throat and lifting his head from the bed to look at her again just as she put the parchment down. "this is me we're talking about, alice." he grinned at her. it wasn't easy for him. he reached for the parchment, smiling. "i can't even remember the i before e except after c." he reminded her, looking away from the parchment and back to her face.
and then she started talking about what he needed to do and he was lost again. he shook his head, looking back down at the parchment and groaning lightly. "you lost me at usually. " he told her seriously. he looked back at her, clearing his throat once more and then putting the parchment back in front of her. he chuckled lightly, though, shaking his head and turning to face her properly. he crossed his legs and then bit his lip. "yeah, i still don't get it." he told her, shaking his head. "i don't listen, though, in lessons. that's my main problem. it just bores me so much!" he told her, leaning back so he was laying on the floor. he closed his eyes again, frowning.

alice grinned as frank told her he was lost, & looked up at the ceiling & back at his face in mock exasperation. "it's really not that hard to understand," she giggled, picking the parchment back up as frank put it down. she'd had this conversation with frank multiple times; he just didn't seem to grasp that to her, most things were easy. "maybe you should start listening," alice grinned, glancing down at the parchment once more before placing it on the bed next to her. "i'm not in every class with you, i can't help you all the time," alice tilted her head to the side, & smiled slightly as frank closed his eyes. she still hadn't quite got over the fact that he was hers, & nobody else's. alice was his girlfriend & he was her boyfriend, & nothing would change that, nothing. to herself, alice had thought - on more than one occasion - that they were forever. they were frank & alice & they were going to be together forever. she'd even tried tacking his last name onto hers, not that she'd ever admit it.
she bit her lip in concentration, & gently ran her fingers through his hair, still quite unable to believe that he was all hers. she'd had ten months to get used to the fact, & it still amazed her. "well," she started, pausing thoughtfully. "what would stop you being bored? i'm sure there's something you could use to keep your interest in class, something that would make you focus."

he listened to her words. her voice was calming and it made him feel fuzzy inside. he opened his eyes to look at her, smiling when she ran her fingers through his hair. "i'll try." he told her. "i knoww. but there should be some way you can come help me. just like.. make an invisibility cloak!" he grinned at her and then rolled his eyes at himself. she was amazing, but she couldn't really just magic up an invisibility cloak. or did he underestimate her? either way, he didn't think she'd risk getting herself into deep trouble just so she could stop him being ridiculous and make him listen. he'd get distracted by her, anyway.
he raised his eyebrows at her next words. there was something that could keep his interest. but he knew for sure she wouldn't like it. if only the rest of her clothes were as irritating at her tie. then maybe she'd remove them too. he turned on his side, moving his hand so it was propping his head up. he smiled at her, lifting his other hand to stroke her cheek gently. "the only thing that could possibly make me interested about potions is.." he smiled, running a finger across her lips. "you." he finished, smiling and then leaning up to kiss her softly.

alice couldn't help but laugh at his suggestion; there was no way alice could magic herself an invisibility cloak; for a start, they were incredibly rare, & the only one alice knew existed for certain was james' cloak. she'd had to use it, last year, which she'd felt incredibly guilty about because she hadn't asked before taking it. it had taken weeks for james to convince her that she didn't need to say sorry every time she saw him. & besides, alice may be a skilled witch, but she wasn't nearly that clever. invisibility spells were of the highest complexity, & even alice struggled with them. even a disillusionment charm proved difficult for alice, something she greatly disliked & practiced whenever she got a spare moment. "i'm sure professor slughorn would notice if you improved instantaneously in potions; you just have to work hard," she grinned, still running her fingers through his hair. he was hers, all hers, no one could take him away from her, he was hers.
she bit at her lower lip gently as she felt his hand on her cheek, feeling her skin blaze at his touch. she always saw fireworks when she was with him. she breathed in deeply as his hand moved, barely listening, aware only of herself in her half undressed state, lying on frank's bed, in an empty dorm, but then his lips were against hers & all coherent thought left her. she had been about to say something, she knew that much. what was she going to say? she loved kissing frank, she did, especially when he was all soft & gentle & made her feel like the most important girl in the- oh, that's what she was going to say. pulling away gently & resting her forehead against his, alice breathed in deeply, taking in some much needed oxygen, & smiled briefly. "i'm sure i'd be more distracting than helpful," she murmured, feeling dizzy. "you wouldn't concentrate at all."

he smiled when she laughed. it always made him feel much better, knowing that she was happy. and another thing. she didn't seem phased by the whole gossip scheme so clearly she trusted him. maybe he should tell her about the whole flirting with lia, afterall. he sighed gently. no, he wouldn't. it didn't matter therefore where was no reason at all to bring it up. he opened his eyes when she pulled away, raising his eyebrows at her. "i really don't think he'd notice." he whispered quietly, smiling sweetly at her. he probably wouldn't. slughorn was a good teacher but he wasn't the most observant. he sighed deeply again before moving his head back to his hand, propping himself up again.
he shook his head at her words. "not really.. you'd just be there and you'd just have to make kissy lips everytime i strayed. and then if i did something good, you'd just have to reward me with a kiss. " he told her, grinning. the plan was flawless, really. other than the fact he'd probably get carried away with kissing her. but alice was clever. she'd tell him to stop if he kissed her too much. well, maybe not. he chuckled lightly and then shrugged. "i'll try for you." he promised, leaning up and kissing her again, closing his eyes. his kiss was still soft and gentle but with a little more meaning.

alice had to agree with frank; professor slughorn probably wouldn't notice frank's immediate improvement in potions, but that wasn't the point. other class members might, & those that knew him knew that frank was rather atrocious at potions. alice being there & helping him might prove a little odd, & it wouldn't take long before alice was found out. alice would rather keep her impeccable record, & not run the risk of getting into trouble. the only time she had in fact been in trouble was in her fourth year, but it was only for being out of bed after hours, after she'd gone after marlene to try & keep her out of trouble. it worked out in her favour though; professors mcgonagall & dumbledore had both said that alice's determination to keep her friends safe & out of trouble had been what had earned her the prefect position.
alice couldn't help but giggle at frank's suggestion; even thinking about it was proving difficult. alice couldn't make 'kissy lips' as frank so fondly called them at anyone without dissolving into giggles, &, seeing as alice was supposed to be invisible when sitting next to him, giggling wouldn't be a very good idea. "but you wouldn't be able to see me!" she grinned, tucking her hair behind her ear & unfolding her legs, stretching them out in front of her before pulling them up slightly, feet placed firmly against the mattress. "i'd be invisible; you wouldn't know what i was doing!" did that sound wrong? that had sounded much better in alice's head. she smiled slightly at frank's promise, & moved her hand from his hair to his face, brushing her thumb over his cheek & noticing the slight stubble she felt against her thumb. surprisingly, she found she liked it. she kissed him back as his lips found hers again, curling her other arm close to his chest & gripping the front of his shirt gently, closing her own eyes.

he had missed her more than he'd thought before. he knew he'd missed her too much but just being around her, talking to her. that was what he really missed. he hadn't had a good chat to her for a while and it felt nice to just talk. even if they weren't exactly 'catching up'. they hadn't spoken about what they'd been doing, it was just what frank had meant to be doing. and yet again, he hadn't. he was pretty sure it'd just come to the deadline date and he'd just give in whatever he'd written. which would be a few simple words about what things were and what they did. the stuff slughorn taught to first years. part of him wanted to get to know remus. he'd never really gotten on with the guy because he'd always been jealous. and he was sure he wasn't remus's favourite person, either. he was certain that alice told remus everything, including the amount of times frank had asked to sleep with her. it made him sound like that was all he wanted from her. he really didn't. he just wanted that bond with her. for her to trust him enough. not that he didn't think she trusted him.. he frowned at the thoughts, pushing them from his mind instantly.
frank chuckled at her words, shrugging slightly. so what if it looked like he was kissing giggly air. he didn't really care about that. slughorn would probably have let her come and sit in if it meant frank would actually do as he was told. and he was pretty sure that alice was already advanced enough to skip one single lesson. that would be all it took, really. one lesson to get him up a little more. him being frank's grades.. not..something else. though.. that would probably come up too. whatwhat? no. what. he pushed those thoughts out of his mind, too. and then she gripped his shirt. he felt safer and almost like she was saying yes to an unasked question. she one he'd asked too many time. he kept kissing her, moving slowly so he was sitting up. it was less awkward this way. he pulled her closer to him slowly so she was nearly in his lap. he put his hands on her waist lightly, a finger only slightly flicking under her shirt to touch her skin.
